Special
Residence
If a foreigner is believed to be a victim of human trafficking, they can request a special residence permit in Georgia. This permit may also be extended upon request by a victim support organization or legal authority dealing with human trafficking cases. The purpose of this permit is to offer protection and support to victims, allowing them to stay in the country legally and access necessary services.
- Eligibility Criteria
If you’ve been a victim of human trafficking or were affected by this crime, you may be eligible for a special residence permit in Georgia. The permit can also be granted if a member of the Georgian government submits a written request on your behalf or if you fall under the categories specified in Article 60 of the Law. Additionally, if you’re a foreign citizen with the status of a compatriot living abroad, you may be eligible for this type of permit. Keep in mind that if a member of the Georgian Government recommends someone for a special residence permit, they won’t need to provide all the documents required under Article 18 of the law. The process for submitting any additional documents will be outlined in an ordinance from the Georgian Government.
